Preparation

Today we started with the building process of our FTIR multi touch screen.

At first we had to choose the right materials:

- Acrylic (plexiglas): we ordered 2 pieces, a 100cm x 56cm and a 176cm x 99cm.
- Wood: enough for the whole frame.
- Aluminium: to hold the acrylic in place, we also place the led ribbon's in the border.
- Beamer: to project the image on the projection screen that is on top of the acrylic.
- Infra red led's: we chose for IR led ribbons from www.led1.de
- Replacement lens: for the webcam without a IR filter. www.ebay.com
- Infra red bandpass filter: to block all the other waves than the IR ones, for now we are going to use photo negatives for this, or the magnet band from a diskette, whatever works best.
- Projection surface: for this we are going to use Rosco Grey.
- Compliant surface: in our case we are going to try to make this with Sulky Solvy (water soluble), but Sorta Clear 40 is also one of the options, or you can experiment with some silicones from your local store.
