Modification of the webcam
Original:
We removed the casing of it, and build a new one, you can also see the new lens without IR Filter we put on.
On top of this comes another casing to hold the IR bandpassfilter.
First test with projector
We used a simple piece of paper to project onto.
As you can see, we removed the back plate of the projector so it could move back a little more, this is so the projected surface would fit completely on the screen.
We also had to play a little with the resolution on the computer.

Deliveries
Pictures of the screen still packed may follow, pictures are always more interesting then some text :)
The frame is almost finished
Difficulties with projector in frame
We got back to the drawing board and adapted the first prototype sketch we drew.
This is our solution to the problem,
- We raised the projector 4,5cm above the top of the frame, this is to get the proper image projection size.
- We also had to move the projector 23,3cm to the back to fit the image centered onto the surface.
- We figured out a way to stabilize the projector. We made a support under the projector where he can rest on, and we are going to attach the projector to the back of the frame.
See sketches (support and attachment in more dark brown color).

Deliveries: Ultra Short Throw projector
Today we received our Ultra Short Throw projector. (Sanyo PLC XL51)
It's very impressive at first, but we realised that the distance from the projector to the frame is not far enough, we would have wanted that it was directly attached to the frame but then the image is not projected on the acrylic.
So we had to change our prototype so that the projector is about 30cm away from the frame.
We will show the updated version later, because it still needs some work.

Deliveries
We did not have the chance to test them yet because we don't have a neutral lens for the webcam,
but as soon as the lens is delivered we are going to do this right away.

Start
Today we started with the construction of the frame.
We went to buy some wood and aluminium at Brico Plan-it, and some screws :p.
Back at our constriction site we sawed all the pieces for the frame, but we eventually decided that the sawing would be better by machinery, so one of us took the frame home to cut the pieces more correctly.
The aluminium frame for the acrylic plate and led ribbons was also cut at the right length., 2 x 100cm and 2 x 56cm.
pictures will follow.

Preparation
At first we had to choose the right materials:
- Acrylic (plexiglas): we ordered 2 pieces, a 100cm x 56cm and a 176cm x 99cm.
- Wood: enough for the whole frame.
- Aluminium: to hold the acrylic in place, we also place the led ribbon's in the border.
- Beamer: to project the image on the projection screen that is on top of the acrylic.
- Infra red led's: we chose for IR led ribbons from www.led1.de
- Replacement lens: for the webcam without a IR filter. www.ebay.com
- Infra red bandpass filter: to block all the other waves than the IR ones, for now we are going to use photo negatives for this, or the magnet band from a diskette, whatever works best.
- Projection surface: for this we are going to use Rosco Grey.
- Compliant surface: in our case we are going to try to make this with Sulky Solvy (water soluble), but Sorta Clear 40 is also one of the options, or you can experiment with some silicones from your local store.
